User Experience Design & Visual Design

Making art history accessible

The Cranach digital archive is a comprehensive resource on paintings by Lucas Cranach (c.1472 - 1553), his sons and his workshop. It aims to stimulate collaboration between art historians, conservators, historians and the public.

In the initial phase I worked on the Information Architecture and visual design of the main pages in order to make sure that the user experience is intuitive and simple. An dropdown menu provides an overview of the content, the neatly arranged teaser boxes take you smoothly to the content when clicked. The site will be navigable across multiple platforms.
